Insurance and Vehicle Protection Policy
Version 1 · Last updated 12 October 2026
1. Roamkin is not an insurer
Roamkin does not provide insurance, does not guarantee that cover exists or that a claim will be paid, and does not replace duties imposed by law. Vehicles are insured, if at all, through the Host's own insurer or any protection plan disclosed to you before booking.
2. Host requirements
Hosts must hold insurance that covers rental use of the vehicle and is valid for the renter and use in the booking. Hosts must give accurate insurer, policy number and expiry details, and keep them current. Renting out a vehicle under a policy that excludes rental use may leave it uninsured; it is the Host's responsibility to check with the insurer.
3. Renter information
Before booking you will see the insurance and protection details, any excess, and any exclusions. Check them. Insurers commonly exclude drunk driving, unlicensed or unapproved drivers, use outside agreed terms and negligence. Blank or missing insurance fields do not create cover.
4. Third-party cover
Zimbabwean law requires vehicles on the road to carry at least third-party insurance. Do not drive a rental vehicle that you believe is uninsured.
5. If something happens
Report accidents, theft or damage to the Host and Roamkin as soon as possible, report to the police where required, and give the insurer the information it needs. Keep all condition evidence. Roamkin will help to collect and share records with the insurer where lawful.
6. Excess and uninsured loss
Any insurance excess or uninsured loss is allocated as set out in the booking and the rental agreement and is limited to proven, reasonable loss caused by the Renter or approved driver.
7. Protection plans
If a protection plan is offered in future, its price, cover, exclusions and claim process will be disclosed before payment and will form part of the booking.
